Hello from the UK

Well, where do I start. My name is Dan, and I'm picking up a Ninja 250SL on Sunday. That does sound like an introduction at an AA meeting though... Oh well.

Basically, I've been a biker since 1993, and this will be my third Kawasaki I've had in all those years. My short list of bikes since I passed my test back in '93 in order are;

1990 Kawasaki AR125 (accident)
1989 Honda NSR125 (accident)
1995 Yamaha Diversion XJ600S (blew it up, I will never buy another Yamaha!)
1997 Kawasaki ZX600 F3 (sold, stupid idiot!)
1999 Suzuki GSF600n Bandit (still own)
2001 Aprilia RS125 (blew up and sold)
1993 Ducati Monster M900 (still own and my pride and joy!)

And soon to be added is the little Ninja.

I've dabbled with some restoration, especially on my Ducati. I just decided to buy the Ninja, as I liked the look of it, and it's ideal for getting me to work across London!

Here's the other bikes from my little riding history.

Why did I chose the 250SL.

Well, it was a choice of 4 bikes. The Z250, 250SL, Z300 or the Ninja 300. The 250SL got my vote due to being cheaper and lighter than the 300cc, and for the extra £200 a fairing does come in handy! And I'd rather have the sportier little bike, than another sit up bike. And if I really want to go mad, I've always got the big Monster to go out on!

Good choice going with the 250SL, I think there were even some reviews where they looked at similar bikes that you look at with the 250SL coming out on top.

Have you already started thinking about first modifications?

I just liked the look of the 250SL over the 300 Ninja, and I have never really liked Honda's or Yamaha's

I'll probably end up swapping the exhaust for an Akropovic can, and maybe swapping the stock Dunlop tyres for something more sticky

I know my idea of commuting on it will end up with me having fun doing track days. As I will never let the Monster out on the race circuit!

Fair enough, I can see that, one of the reasons that I'm also into the 250SL as well.

I even like the ergo's of the SL better than the Ninja 3000.
